Outset is an AI-powered user research platform used by global brands like HubSpot, Microsoft, Uber, and Nestle to conduct qualitative research at scale. The company recently raised a $30M Series B in December 2025 and is growing rapidly in the $140B+ research industry. We're seeking a Product Designer to join our founding design team and shape intuitive, elegant experiences for our AI-native product. This is a full-stack design role that goes beyond traditional UI/UX—you'll own problems end-to-end, from ideation through coded prototypes and occasional production shipping. Key responsibilities include: - Partner with product, design, and engineering to craft experiences that drive business impact - Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals for new and existing features - Build functional, front-to-back prototypes in code (HTML/CSS/JS, Python) when that's the fastest path to validation - Use AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor) as a core part of your design workflow—not an occasional accelerant, but your primary way of moving from idea to working software - Operate confidently in dev environments: git workflows, local setup, reading PRs, collaborating closely with engineers - Conduct user research and usability testing to ensure designs are user-centered and data-informed - Contribute to a consistent, accessible design system - Work from the San Francisco office at least 4 days per week You should have significant experience designing digital products in startup or SaaS environments, with a strong portfolio demonstrating real UX and visual design judgment. Proficiency with Figma and design tools is essential. Critically, you need demonstrated ability to write and ship full-stack code and real, hands-on fluency with AI coding assistants as day-to-day tools. Comfort operating in dev environments (git, terminal, local builds) and reviewing code with engineers is required. You thrive in agile, cross-functional teams and have a growth mindset with willingness to experiment and iterate quickly.
