Lumana is an AI video security platform founded in 2021 and backed by leading Silicon Valley investors. The company helps organizations turn video into action by improving safety, strengthening security, and enabling faster response times. As a Product Designer, you will design experiences across web and mobile products while working closely with product managers, engineers, and the CEO. This role offers direct access to leadership—the CEO will seek your design recommendations, challenge your thinking, and expect you to explain your choices and suggest improvements when you identify a better approach. Key responsibilities include: - Translating high-level product requests into clear problems through thoughtful questioning - Creating user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and polished interfaces for web and mobile platforms - Considering how changes affect the wider product ecosystem, including related workflows and navigation patterns - Gathering insights from product managers, engineers, Solutions Engineers, and customer-facing colleagues - Presenting design recommendations to teammates and leadership with clear reasoning and trade-off analysis - Constructively challenging assumptions—including leadership's—when you identify usability issues or stronger alternatives, backed by examples or evidence - Testing and refining designs using feedback, usability testing, and product insights - Collaborating with engineers through handoff and implementation to ensure the experience works as intended - Contributing to and maintaining the design system for consistency across the product - Balancing thoughtful design with timely delivery as priorities evolve You'll work on meaningful projects with visible impact—for example, improving bulk camera onboarding flows that help users add multiple cameras in a single process. The role offers direct influence over product decisions, individual ownership from problem exploration through implementation, and exposure to technical complexity across cameras, locations, filters, onboarding, and interconnected platform components. The work environment is collaborative and fast-paced. You may manage several tasks simultaneously and adapt when priorities shift. Success requires preparation, thoughtful discussion, and hands-on execution. The team values designers who can support their recommendations, listen carefully, and help move decisions forward. Requirements: - Approximately 5 years of product or UX/UI design experience with a portfolio demonstrating relevant work (open to different experience levels when work shows strong potential) - Portfolio that explains the problem, your contribution, options considered, and reasoning for your approach - Strong foundations in interaction design, visual hierarchy, and usability - Proficiency in Figma, including components and interactive prototypes - Interest in technical products and patience to understand interconnected systems - Clear communication skills: ability to explain recommendations, ask for clarification, and respectfully disagree - Openness to feedback and ability to revise thinking when new information emerges - Ability to manage tasks, surface blockers, and adapt when priorities shift Helpful but not required: - Experience with B2B software, dashboards, or complex applications - Experience collaborating with engineers on shipped products - Familiarity with user research, usability testing, or design systems - Understanding of front-end implementation constraints - Experience using AI tools in design workflow - Exposure to security technology, video, analytics, or computer vision
