Salary: USD 169,000 - 303,000 / annual
Figma is seeking a Product Designer, AI Models to bridge AI research innovations with world-class design principles. In this unique role, you'll help teach AI models to be better copilots for designers, working across all Figma products to improve AI capabilities and oversee evaluation quality.
Key responsibilities include collaborating closely with AI researchers to improve model performance from a design perspective, developing and documenting design principles and heuristics for AI systems, building thorough methods to test and enhance AI-generated outputs, overseeing design evaluation quality and guiding external partners, and serving as the bridge between AI research teams and designers—translating technical details for designers and design concepts for AI experts.
You should have experience developing design heuristics and design principles, leading design efforts across product suites or features spanning multiple product lines, and using AI models for design tasks (coding or image models). A proven track record managing complex cross-team projects, managing contractors on tight timelines, and strong design background with excellent taste and attention to detail are essential.
Added strengths include background in creating or evaluating AI-generated designs, operational mindset for process improvement, technical understanding of AI/ML concepts applied to design, comfort navigating ambiguity, and strong communication skills for explaining complex concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
This is a full-time role based in one of Figma's US hubs (San Francisco or New York) or available as remote within the United States.
