Verkada is seeking a Product Design Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design and development of next-generation enterprise intercom products, from early concept through mass production. You will own the full product lifecycle, generating mechanical solutions for complex enterprise hardware requirements including audio systems, cameras, RF components, mounting, sealing, environmental resistance, thermal management, and tamper resistance.
Key responsibilities include driving new products from proof of concept through mass production, collaborating with electrical engineering teams to integrate PCBAs and sensors, and working with industrial design to explore and prototype new concepts. You will partner with mechanical vendors on design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA), manage tooling release and validation, and develop mechanical reliability test plans and design-of-experiments (DoEs).
You will work closely with JDM and contract manufacturing partners through validation builds (EVT, DVT, PVT) into production, handle failure analysis and root cause investigation, and troubleshoot issues with rapid iteration. The role requires hands-on involvement with building, testing, and validating hardware, as well as managing overseas supply chain relationships.
Required qualifications include a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years of mechanical design and manufacturing experience with enterprise or consumer electronics, mastery of 3D CAD software, and demonstrated end-to-end product development experience. You should have proven experience with overseas supply chains, vendor management, tooling bring-up, and a passion for designing both aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly hardware. International travel up to 15% is required.
