Patreon is seeking a Senior Staff Design Manager to lead the design function across its creator and fan platform. You'll manage a team of 6-7 product designers alongside another senior design manager, serving as part of the design leadership bench. The role is hybrid-based in New York or San Francisco, requiring 3 days per week in-office. You'll lead by example in craft—staying hands-on in Figma, prototyping, and production code—while partnering with product and engineering to shape Patreon's design direction. The design team is responsible for the full consumer experience across creator and fan products, spanning memberships, community, live video, and direct sales. Designers are embedded in cross-functional teams and expected to drive outcomes, not just deliver assets. Key responsibilities include managing and developing a high-performing design team, maintaining high craft standards, serving as an external voice for design at Patreon, and driving AI fluency across the team. You'll partner strategically across functions with a focus on shared outcomes rather than territory. Required experience includes shipping distinctive consumer software where design was central to market position (not just polish), leading design teams of varying sizes and configurations (startup through public company scale), daily use of AI tools with demonstrated team-wide impact on velocity or quality, and a track record of building high talent density where top designers choose to work for you and people you've developed become strong leaders. Paratreon powers over 300,000 creators with $10 billion+ generated since inception, 100 million+ free memberships, and 25 million+ paid memberships. The company is investing heavily in building the best creator platform with a mission to fund the creative class.
