Salary: GBP 75,000 - 200,000 / annual
Axle Energy is building software infrastructure for the decarbonized energy system, controlling hundreds of thousands of energy assets including vehicle charging, heating systems, and home batteries. The company operates at high speed in a legacy industry, moving gigawatt-hours of electrons while backed by world-leading investors like Accel.
You will be Axle's first product designer, responsible for elevating design quality across the entire organization. The role spans multiple dimensions: directly designing user experiences for both B2C mass-market and B2B2C advanced tooling products; building design systems and scalable solutions that enable the broader team to ship beautiful software faster; establishing a culture of user research and deep customer empathy; and leading Axle's visual identity and external storytelling through web, animation, and video.
You'll work in small, interdisciplinary teams of engineers and product managers within a deliberately flat, autonomous structure. Your responsibilities include understanding complex user problems where established answers don't exist, representing the customer voice strategically, coaching and enabling others on design practices, and partnering with global clients to improve their user experiences.

You're deeply curious about how people experience products and have a strong aesthetic sense.
