Re:Build Manufacturing, through its subsidiary Tekna, is seeking a Procurement Specialist to join the Engineering team in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Tekna, founded in 1988, is a design and manufacturing services company serving medical, life science, consumer, industrial, electronics, and appliances sectors. The company offers design consulting, contract manufacturing, and OEM services with cross-functional teams spanning design engineering, industrial design, CAD, procurement, production, and quality.
In this role, you will execute buyer responsibilities with limited oversight from the Project Manager and Materials Manager. Key responsibilities include sourcing and qualifying suppliers, requesting quotes for tooling, products, services, and equipment, placing purchase orders, supporting PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), confirming invoices, and coordinating delivery tracking. You will establish and maintain relationships with new and existing suppliers, keep project stakeholders informed of cost estimates, quotes, changes, and delivery status, and facilitate design-for-manufacturing reviews between design engineers and suppliers.
A significant aspect of this role involves mentoring and training entry-level buyers, supporting their development within the procurement function. You will also assist the Project Manager in ensuring all required design control documentation is completed and quality requirements are met per the company's quality management system.
The ideal candidate brings 2+ years of buyer or equivalent procurement experience, with an Associate or Bachelor degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent preferred. You should have sound knowledge of supply chain management principles, understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods, good numeracy and digital literacy, and the ability to mentor junior team members.
