As Privacy and AI Counsel for EMEA, you will join Harvey's global in-house legal team, reporting to the Head of Privacy. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on privacy law, data protection, and AI governance across the European, Middle Eastern, and African regions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) with customers, subprocessors, service providers, and third parties
- Developing, maintaining, and scaling global privacy programs, including Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Records of Processing
- Cross-functional collaboration with product and engineering teams to evaluate privacy and data protection law impacts on product developments
- Monitoring and responding to evolving privacy laws and regulations, particularly AI-specific regulations
- Supporting implementation and compliance with AI-specific regulations including the EU AI Act and UK AI governance frameworks
- Assisting in AI system classification, risk assessment, and development of internal AI governance controls, documentation, and processes
- Partnering with legal, product, and compliance stakeholders on AI principles including transparency, accountability, and human oversight
You will bring 4+ years of post-qualification legal experience in privacy and data protection, with proven expertise in EU and U.S. data protection law and familiarity with global compliance frameworks. Strong drafting and negotiation skills are essential, along with the ability to represent Harvey on privacy, AI, and security matters. You are highly responsive, detail-oriented, and capable of balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution while collaborating effectively across legal and business teams.
