The Believer Company, a global games studio behind titles like Words With Friends, League of Legends, Destiny, and Apex Legends, is seeking an experienced Principal UX Designer to lead end-to-end UX/UI design for an upcoming game title. This is a high-impact individual contributor role reporting to the Design Director. You will own the complete player experience: designing player journeys, reducing friction, defining gameplay flows, and architecting information systems that guide and delight players. You'll work hands-on in Unreal Engine 5, collaborating closely with a dedicated UI Engineer to ensure implementation fidelity. You'll manage UI asset production, balancing in-house design work with AI-assisted tooling and external support to meet volume and quality targets. Beyond execution, you'll establish and maintain UX/UI standards, design systems, and style guides for the team. You'll mentor other contributors, represent design in cross-functional initiatives, and help advance the discipline's tools and practices. Ideal candidates bring 10+ years of UX/UI expertise with a proven track record shipping games. You think systematically about player needs across diverse audiences, work directly in game engines (Unreal Engine 5 or equivalent), and have experience building or scaling design systems. You're comfortable with ambiguity, work with minimal oversight, and thrive in a fast-paced production environment. The company offers competitive compensation ($185k–$230k annually), equity, comprehensive health benefits (100% employer-paid), 10 observed holidays plus 10 winter break days, and flexible PTO. The role is fully remote and part of a globally distributed team committed to player-first game development.
