Bedrock Robotics is deploying autonomous systems on heavy construction equipment across the country. The company has raised $350M in two years and achieved the first fully autonomous excavator deployments in construction, combining AI with real-world physical systems.
As Principal AI/ML Recruiter, you'll lead end-to-end recruiting for critical technical and leadership roles, partnering directly with engineering leadership and the founding team. Your primary focus is identifying and closing world-class talent in AI/ML, robotics, perception engineering, and autonomy science—the researchers and engineers that top AI labs compete for.
You'll source through direct relationships in academic labs, conference circuits (NeurIPS, CVPR, ICLR, ICRA), and the spinout ecosystem rather than relying on LinkedIn searches alone. You need sufficient technical fluency to evaluate computer vision PhDs, spot breakout talent early, and earn credibility with highly specialized engineers.
Key responsibilities include owning full-cycle recruiting for AI/ML and perception roles, leading technical leadership searches, building and leveraging AI-powered recruiting tools for faster sourcing and pipeline management, running compensation strategy and offer negotiation for niche specialties using market intelligence from both tech and construction sectors, representing Bedrock at technical conferences and robotics meetups to build employer brand, and mentoring future recruiters as the team scales.
You'll need 10+ years of full-cycle technical recruiting with a proven track record closing talent from competitive AI/ML, robotics, and autonomous systems companies. Deep technical fluency in AI/ML, computer vision, perception, motion planning, reinforcement learning, and model architecture is essential. Advanced sourcing skills across Boolean search, LinkedIn Recruiter, GitHub, research papers, and technical community networks are required, along with proficiency in AI-powered recruiting tools. You must be data-driven on pipeline health and market intelligence, with strong negotiation skills for equity, relocation, and competing startup offers.
Preferred experience includes recruiting at top AI labs, autonomous vehicle companies, or robotics startups; understanding of safety-critical software and hardware-software integration; networks within AI/ML research communities; experience scaling recruiting in high-growth startups; and knowledge of construction technology or industrial automation.
Role is hybrid, 2-3 days per week in San Francisco office, with regular in-person collaboration with engineering teams and occasional travel to conferences and industry events.
