Amplitude is a leading AI-powered product analytics platform serving over 4,700 customers including Atlassian, Burger King, NBCUniversal, and Square. The company helps product, data, and marketing teams analyze, test, and optimize user experiences using embedded AI agents.
As Principal Solutions Engineer for the UK & Ireland region, you will be the technical quarterback for Amplitude's most strategic enterprise opportunities. You'll partner closely with Account Executives to win complex, multi-stakeholder deals by translating product capabilities into measurable business outcomes for Product, Marketing, and Analytics leaders.
Your primary responsibilities (70% of time) center on deal execution: leading technical evaluation phases for deals ranging from £100K to £1M+ ARR, conducting deep discovery to map prospect workflows and tech stack dependencies, designing and executing hands-on proof-of-concepts using the prospect's actual data, handling technical objections around data architecture and compliance, and presenting to C-level executives with ROI-focused narratives.
Internal collaboration (20% of time) involves partnering with Software Engineering and Product Management to communicate feature gaps and customer requirements affecting deal velocity, serving as a business partner to Account Executives throughout the sales cycle, coordinating smooth handoffs with Customer Success, and mentoring junior Solution Engineers on technical positioning and demo best practices.
Thought leadership (10% of time) includes contributing competitive intelligence on tools like Google Analytics 4, Adobe Analytics, and Mixpanel, and developing reusable thought pieces and technical content for the broader Solution Engineering team.
You bring strong pre-sales experience at principal level (Solutions Engineering, Sales Consulting, or Technical Account Management), ideally with background in product analytics, experimentation, or customer data platforms. You're fluent in sales methodologies like MEDDICC/MEDDPICC, possess a strong commercial mindset, and can articulate nuanced technical concepts including LLMs, agentic software development, data architecture, and APIs/SDKs to both engineers and business stakeholders. You have a proven track record closing technical evaluations in competitive enterprise deals.
