Berkshire Grey is seeking a Principal Solutions Architect to lead the design of intelligent automation systems that optimize customer operations. This role bridges presales, prototype development, and product strategy, requiring deep technical expertise in warehouse automation and systems design.
In the presales phase, you will analyze customer data and processes to propose tailored automation solutions, compose technical response documents, deliver customer presentations, and collaborate with sales to identify new application areas. You'll work closely with program engineers to ensure accurate solution development and deployment.
You will manage proof-of-concept development from requirements definition through transition to engineering and operations. This includes assessing feasibility, collaborating with engineering on design limitations and opportunities, defining solution architecture, and developing technical risk mitigation plans.
On the product strategy side, you will identify new solution and product opportunities through customer contact and market knowledge, collaborate with product management on feature prioritization and commercialization, gather business requirements for enhancement requests, and contribute to best practices and tools for improved product usage.
The ideal candidate holds a BS in industrial engineering, operations, or related field, with proven experience designing warehouse automation systems, particularly conveyor layouts. You should be comfortable with MS Excel, MS Project, and technical drawing tools (AutoCAD, Solidworks), have strong business acumen, and understand operational and financial metrics. You must interface effectively with customers, communicate across engineering and operations teams, and be willing to travel 25%+. This role does not offer visa sponsorship.
