Echodyne is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to architect and build the next-generation radar software platform for mission-critical defense and autonomous vehicle applications. The role combines fullstack responsibilities with technical leadership across backend and frontend systems. Key responsibilities include: - Deliver core platform components using async Rust (Tokio) backend services, well-defined APIs, and real-time data/event models that power radar processing and control systems. - Partner closely with React/frontend teams to enable shared components, efficient state management, and system health visualizations for operators and analysts. - Advance prototypes to production by transforming algorithms and domain logic into well-tested, high-performance endpoints with solid observability and monitoring. - Architect for resilience by addressing intermittent connectivity, graceful degradation, security hardening, and offline scenarios critical to defense and autonomous systems. - Collaborate across engineering, product, and UX teams to ensure radar software thrives in real-world, dynamic environments across automotive, transportation, critical infrastructure, border security, smart cities, and uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS). Echodyne combines patented metamaterial technology with powerful software to create compact solid-state beam-steering radar sensors that work in all weather conditions. The company serves automotive, defense, infrastructure protection, and emerging urban air mobility markets. This is a high-impact role for a senior engineer who can drive architectural decisions, mentor other engineers, and own significant technical scope across the full stack while maintaining production excellence and security standards.
