Salary: USD 295,250 - 345,040 / annual

Roblox is building the platform and tools that empower a global community of developers and creators to build immersive 3D experiences. Roblox Studio is a world-class cloud IDE that enables instant synchronization between game developers through the Team Create product. As a Principal Software Engineer on the Creator Collaboration team, you will lead the architecture and design of workflows in Roblox Studio and the platform, enabling creators and AI agents to collaborate at scale by creating, sharing, and managing reusable content. You will report to the engineering manager and be responsible for designing and building features that unlock collaborative development in the metaverse. Key responsibilities include: - Planning and delivering complex technical features end-to-end in the game engine and Studio UI - Establishing foundational architecture and technical direction for Studio's expanding capabilities - Working cross-functionally across teams and technology platforms to deliver high-quality user functionality - Leading by example and mentoring engineers on technological best practices, patterns, and strategies - Improving product quality by fostering automation testing - Participating in building a world-class professional application for massively multiplayer game development You will be hands-on, delivering features from vision to life with a commanding grasp of performant user flows. You will work on microsystem architecture, multithreading, and networking primitives. You are responsible for building reliable systems with rigorous handling of failure cases and diligent automated testing. REQUIREMENTS: - Minimum 8+ years of experience working on deep, challenging problems with large-scale systems - Strong C++ experience and game engine background - BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience - Experience building highly available and scalable systems - Understanding of microsystem architecture, multithreading, and networking primitives - Rigorous approach to reliability and automated testing - Excellent communication skills and follow-through - Plus: familiarity with version control systems internals, file storage systems, network protocols, or database system internals
