Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, seeks a Principal Propulsion Engineer to lead turbine engine integration for Group 5 unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) and missile platforms. This is a senior technical leadership role on the Air Dominance & Strike Propulsion Integration team, responsible for the full development lifecycle from concept through flight test. Key responsibilities include: selecting and architecting aircraft engines and engine controls for UAVs; designing, fabricating, and testing prototype components and control systems; planning and executing comprehensive propulsion system tests (static, ground off-wing, qualification, acceptance, flight-test readiness); coordinating with engine vendors and managing strategic OEM partnerships; leading critical hardware demonstrations with customers; contributing to CAD design for inlet/exhaust systems; and traveling to test sites as needed. You will serve as a lead technical authority, advising executive leadership on technical risks, representing the company to government agencies and key customers, and mentoring mid-to-senior engineers. The role requires deep expertise in jet engine thermodynamics, engine cycle modeling, and the ability to influence OEM design decisions to match vehicle requirements. Required: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering; 15+ years of propulsion engineering on air vehicles; professional experience with jet engines in the 250-20,000 lbf thrust class; mastery of engine cycle decks and thermodynamic modeling; prior service as Chief Engineer or ultimate technical authority on a major propulsion program; experience identifying and selecting strategic propulsion suppliers and managing OEM relationships; ability to define comprehensive test programs and troubleshoot system-level anomalies; and eligibility for U.S. Secret security clearance. Preferred: experience with NX/Teamcenter, Python, MATLAB, IADs; hands-on jet engine testing; prior OEM or supplier experience; knowledge of FADEC and engine management systems; machine shop experience; active Top Secret clearance.
