Salary: USD 178,500 - 261,500 / annual
Life360 is seeking a Principal Product Manager to own the identity and trust systems that power access for 102.4 million monthly active users across 180+ countries. This is a strategic, high-impact role reporting to Foundations leadership.
You will own the complete identity strategy and roadmap, including authentication, account sign-in, session management, account recovery, and credential lifecycle across mobile, web, partner integrations, and agentic connectors. This spans both member-facing experiences and backend identity services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Defining vision and strategy for authentication and authorization systems, including registration, access control, and CIAM integration
- Designing account recovery flows that balance security against friction, treating recovery as a security surface
- Partnering with Security to anticipate and defend against account takeover, credential stuffing, phishing, SIM-swap, and social engineering
- Leading the roadmap for passwordless and phishing-resistant authentication (passkeys, risk-based auth, device-bound sessions) while maintaining compatibility with older devices and low-connectivity markets
- Designing identity systems for global scale: phone-number-first behaviors, SMS/OTP deliverability, regional carrier/device realities, localization, and regulatory compliance across 180+ countries
- Handling family-specific identity challenges: teen/minor accounts, age assurance, parental consent, circle membership, and privacy-compliant access controls (COPPA, GDPR)
- Defining company-wide identity KPIs (account takeover rate, sign-in success, recovery success, time to recover, false positive rate, support contacts, passkey adoption)
- Building telemetry and fraud detection to surface abuse, friction, and drop-off across the identity journey
- Translating threat models and security learnings into executive narratives and strategic bets
- Unifying identity decisions across Growth, Subscriptions, Partnerships, and Customer Care teams
You will work cross-functionally with Engineering, Security, Data, Customer Care, Legal/Privacy, and Growth/Onboarding teams. This is not a support role—you are a force multiplier for every team depending on identity systems.
Life360 is a remote-first company with 500+ employees. The company is AI-native and may assess AI tool proficiency during interviews.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of product management experience, including significant time at principal or staff level with cross-functional scope
- Deep, hands-on experience owning consumer identity, authentication, account security, or trust products at scale, ideally for a global consumer app with tens or hundreds of millions of users
- Strong cybersecurity depth: fluency in threat modeling, account takeover, fraud/abuse, MFA, passkeys/FIDO2/WebAuthn, OAuth/OIDC, session management, and credential security; ability to engage with security engineers and CISO teams
- Real empathy for members and understanding of locked-out/access friction scenarios
- Full-stack product ownership: comfort with backend identity services/APIs and equal care for mobile/web UX (login, onboarding, recovery)
- Global mindset: experience launching and operating identity flows across multiple countries, regulatory regimes, languages, and device/carrier environments
- Working knowledge of privacy, compliance, and standards (NIST 800-63, GDPR, CCPA, COPPA); experience with minors' accounts or age assurance is a plus
- Ability to drive alignment across large, matrixed organizations (Engineering, Security, Legal, Privacy, Customer Support)
- Strong analytical instincts: use quantitative data and qualitative signals to define success metrics, run experiments, and maintain standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication: ability to distill complex security and technical realities into clear business priorities for diverse audiences
- High ownership and bias for action: identify problems and mobilize the right people proactively
