Divergent is building the new industrial age, serving as a qualified Tier 1 supplier to global automotive OEMs and supporting leading U.S. aerospace and defense companies. The company operates an integrated engineering and manufacturing platform that transforms complex designs into production-ready solutions.
This Principal Product Manager role focuses on Design and Engineering Systems (DES), a critical software platform serving Divergent's internal IPT (Integrated Product Team) organization. The role unifies currently disjointed request management, roadmap planning, and user advocacy into a centralized product ownership function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and prioritize incoming DES requests and stakeholder demands across the organization
- Align the DES software roadmap with user needs, technical constraints, and strategic objectives
- Create, curate, and maintain comprehensive documentation, training materials, and user-evangelization content for DES products
- Synthesize feedback from end users and their managers to inform roadmap and release decisions
- Own outward release communication and adoption strategy
- Collaborate with product infrastructure, DES developers, and cross-functional partners to eliminate fragmented product-management overhead
- Protect developer focus by owning product, documentation, and communication responsibilities
This is an individual contributor role at the principal/staff level, requiring deep technical product expertise in complex, multi-stakeholder engineering environments. The successful candidate will drive adoption, reduce developer interruption, and serve as the single point of product ownership for a mission-critical internal platform.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering
- 10+ years as a product manager for CAE tools, engineering software, or interactive desktop applications
- Proven ability to manage software roadmaps in complex, multi-stakeholder technical environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills across users, managers, and cross-functional partners
- Experience creating and curating documentation, training programs, and user-evangelization content
- Ability to lawfully access information and technology subject to US export controls
- Ability to work in an export-controlled / US EAR environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in computational design, desktop CAE, PLM, or additive-manufacturing software (Siemens NX / Teamcenter familiarity preferred)
- Experience with laser powder-bed fusion or similar production systems
- Track record driving adoption and reducing developer interruption in engineering organizations
