You'll join as Principal Product Designer for Via's Transit Operations platform, a senior individual contributor role focused on shaping one of the company's core product areas. This role tackles some of the most challenging design problems: deeply interconnected workflows, information-dense systems, and products used for hours daily by dispatchers and transit operators whose decisions directly impact riders and drivers.
In this position, you'll lead design for complex, strategic areas of the Transit Operations product, setting direction across interconnected workflows and creating coherent, scalable experiences. You'll transform complex operational workflows, business requirements, and technical constraints into clear, intuitive, purposeful experiences. You'll move fluidly between systems-level thinking and detailed execution, personally carrying ideas from early exploration through production-ready delivery.
You'll partner closely with Product and Engineering to frame problems, explore possibilities, and drive high-quality product decisions. You'll develop deep understanding of transit operators and dispatchers, designing experiences tightly aligned with their needs. Using research, data, experimentation, and customer feedback, you'll validate decisions and continuously improve the product.
Your influence extends beyond your direct work: you'll proactively identify opportunities, bring clarity to ambiguous problem spaces, and raise the quality bar for Transit Operations and the broader Design organization through the strength of your work, critique, and collaboration. You'll help shape Via's future product design approach, including exploring how AI can enhance your everyday workflow.
The ideal candidate brings extensive experience designing and shipping complex digital products and platforms, with a portfolio demonstrating exceptional product thinking and the ability to create scalable solutions for sophisticated operational systems. You navigate ambiguity skillfully, lead complex initiatives end-to-end, and have a high bar for craft and product quality. You communicate clearly, build alignment across functions, and influence senior stakeholders. You're autonomous, comfortable defining the path forward when the problem isn't fully formed, and passionate about improving how transportation works for communities worldwide.
