Salary: USD 148,000 - 195,000 / annual
Pluralsight is seeking a Principal Product Designer for Design Systems to lead the evolution of Pando, their shared design language and system. This is a high-leverage, individual contributor role at the principal level—not a people management position—where you'll set architectural direction and standards that enable the entire design and engineering organization to ship faster and more consistently.
Key responsibilities include: defining component architecture and compositional philosophy; designing token architecture (primitive → semantic → component) that scales across themes and brand variants; building documentation and governance infrastructure that operates independently; partnering with engineering on tooling and working norms; scaling accessibility as a structural default; owning the design system roadmap and measuring its effectiveness with data-backed metrics.
You'll work hands-on with mentorship, office hours, and deep cross-team partnerships, but the role is fundamentally about systems thinking, architectural decisions, and org-wide influence rather than managing a team.
Required experience: 10+ years in product design with substantial design systems focus; demonstrated track record defining component and token architecture for an entire B2B SaaS system (not just contributing components); experience designing and scaling enterprise-scale design systems including libraries, tokens, and governance; working knowledge of front-end implementation (HTML/CSS, Code Connect); proven ability to define system roadmaps and measure effectiveness (adoption, coverage, defect rate, time-to-implement); accessibility expertise at infrastructure level (WCAG, token/component governance); comfort using AI to streamline workflow; track record building data-backed business cases that influence prioritization.
The role is remote with a hybrid expectation: applicants within 45 miles of the Dallas, TX office should expect on-site presence Tuesday–Thursday, with remote flexibility Monday–Friday. This supports collaboration while maintaining flexibility. A university degree or equivalent demonstrated impact is required.
