Zocdoc is a healthcare marketplace that empowers patients to find and book in-person or virtual care across all 50 states, 200+ specialties, and 12,000+ insurance plans. As Principal Product Designer, you will shape the future of patient discovery and provider delivery experiences across a complex, multi-sided platform.
You will define and drive design direction across large, ambiguous product areas with a holistic, ecosystem-level perspective. This role operates at both strategic and execution levels, influencing not just solutions but product strategy and experience architecture. You'll lead design across marketplace and provider surfaces, ensuring cohesive, scalable, and aligned experiences.
Key responsibilities include: defining design direction across multi-team product areas and identifying high-leverage opportunities; partnering with product, engineering, data, and leadership to shape strategy and drive alignment; designing end-to-end experiences across systems with focus on scalability and consistency; establishing design systems, frameworks, and patterns that enable high-quality solutions; elevating quality through hands-on work, critique, and mentorship; driving efficient delivery while balancing speed, fidelity, and long-term scalability; and leading integration of AI-native workflows using emerging tools to accelerate concept-to-production cycles.
You'll be successful with a proven track record leading high-impact product work across complex, multi-team spaces with strong product judgment and ability to influence strategy. You need exceptional craft, creativity, and taste; deep systems thinking with experience designing across journeys and building scalable frameworks for multi-sided ecosystems; ability to operate as trusted partner to product, engineering, and leadership; strong balance of speed and quality with track record of shipping at scale; and close collaboration experience with engineering teams.
The role is ideal if you're driven to solve high-impact, ambiguous problems spanning multiple user groups; motivated by shaping systems and strategies; energized by connecting vision to shipped outcomes; deeply curious about AI's role in product development; and comfortable leading through influence and driving clarity across complex, cross-functional environments.
