Stardust is a design-led reproductive health app with over 2 million monthly active users, blending scientific insights with wellness features including lunar cycle syncing, friend syncing, pregnancy tracking, and partner options. The company is seed-stage with a 7-person engineering team spanning iOS, Android, backend, and web.
As Principal Product Designer, you will own the complete design layer of Stardust, including the design system, core product experience, and features used by millions daily. You'll report directly to the CEO and work closely with engineers, product, and growth teams in a fast-paced startup environment.
Key responsibilities include:
**Shape the Core Product Experience**: Define the look and feel of the app that millions use daily to understand their bodies. Lead design across core features including cycle and temperature tracking, predictions, sleep, mood logging, pregnancy mode, and partner view. Transform complex health data into beautiful, intuitive interfaces that feel like art rather than clinical tools. Own the full design specification and hand off clean work ready for production. Stay close to implementation, work directly with engineers to protect design intent, and track what ships to measure effectiveness.
**Define and Evolve the Design System**: Own the Stardust design system end-to-end as the product scales. Maintain consistency and quality across iOS, Android, and web while respecting platform-specific nuances. Write contribution guidelines enabling engineers to build within the system independently. Drive evolution as the product grows.
**Drive Growth through Design**: Partner with the growth team to design A/B experiments on high-leverage funnel steps. Build a modular component library to enable rapid experimentation. Use data to identify drop-off points, form hypotheses, and iterate quickly.
You should have 6+ years of product design experience with significant time as lead or sole designer on consumer mobile apps. You're comfortable designing for both iOS and Android native apps and web, understanding platform nuances deeply. You have exceptional visual craft—your interfaces feel alive and distinctive. You run your own process, maintain Figma fluency including design system building, and can ship specs and prototypes through production. Your portfolio demonstrates range: systems thinking, complex health/data UI, growth surfaces, and rich visual design. Experience in health, wellness, femtech, or consumer subscription apps is valued. Interest in AI's impact on design is a plus. Familiarity with motion and interaction design is a bonus.
