PrismHR is an HR, payroll, and benefits platform serving employer-services organizations across the US, backed by Vensure Employer Solutions. You will join as Principal Infrastructure Engineer to ensure availability and performance of payroll systems where downtime directly impacts whether employees get paid.
The role spans a mid-transformation environment combining self-hosted infrastructure and Azure, legacy and modern systems. You will own infrastructure availability and performance across hosting services, partner with senior management on designing and supporting new hosted services, and drive continuous improvement through automation, compliance enforcement, and configuration management evolution.
Key responsibilities include:
- Diagnosing full-stack problems end-to-end (network, authentication, SSL, application)
- Owning topology documentation and disaster recovery design/testing
- Acting as technical lead and mentor for the infrastructure team
- Automating manual operational work
- Enforcing compliance standards across infrastructure
- Supporting both self-hosted and cloud-based service deployments
Schedule: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time, Monday to Friday. First four hours from the Nairobi office; remainder remote. Role includes after-hours maintenance windows and on-call rotation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or Engineering
- 7–10 years of relevant infrastructure/operations experience
- Deep expertise in Linux, Windows, databases, and networking
- Hands-on experience with Puppet, Chef, or Ansible
- Docker and container infrastructure knowledge
- VMware and cloud infrastructure experience in managed service environments
- Strong scripting skills
- Design-level expertise for SaaS platforms
Strongly desired: SOC 2 experience; certifications such as RHCSA/RHCE, MCSA/MCSE, or CCNA.
