Brex is seeking a Principal Design Recruiter to lead talent acquisition strategy for its design organization. This role owns the full recruitment lifecycle for Product Design, Brand Design, and Design Leadership positions, partnering directly with VP and C-level design leaders to define hiring needs, set craft standards, and build high-performing teams. Key responsibilities include sourcing and engaging world-class design talent through diverse channels (recruiting platforms, creative communities, portfolio sites, social networks); evaluating senior and executive design candidates on portfolio quality, systems thinking, and collaboration; owning interview processes for executive searches including portfolio reviews and design exercises; and advising hiring managers on pipeline health and recruiting strategy. You will develop and execute talent mapping and recruiting strategies across the broader design organization, not just individual searches. This includes raising the hiring bar, mentoring other recruiters on quality hires, and defining/evolving interview processes at the organizational level. You'll handle offer negotiations and compensation discussions with executive-level candidates, demonstrating expertise in equity and total comp models. Additionally, you'll champion Brex's employer brand within the design community by representing the company at design events, portfolio reviews, and on relevant social platforms. You'll track key hiring metrics to improve recruiting effectiveness, collaborate cross-functionally on fair evaluation practices, and drive continuous improvement of recruiting processes and inclusive hiring practices. The role is based in Brex's New York office with a hybrid structure requiring a minimum of three coordinated days in-office per week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday), plus up to four weeks annually of fully remote work.
