Brex is seeking a Principal Design Recruiter to lead talent acquisition for its design organization. This role owns the full recruitment lifecycle for Product Design, Brand Design, and Design Leadership positions, partnering directly with VP and C-level design leaders to define hiring strategy, set craft standards, and build high-performing teams.
Key responsibilities include sourcing and engaging world-class design talent through diverse channels (recruiting platforms, creative communities, portfolio sites, social networks); evaluating senior and executive design candidates on portfolio quality, systems thinking, and collaboration; owning interview processes for executive searches including portfolio reviews and design exercises; and advising hiring managers on pipeline health and recruiting strategy.
You will develop strategies to attract and retain diverse design talent, proactively building pipelines for both immediate and long-term needs. You'll track and analyze key hiring metrics to improve recruiting effectiveness, collaborate cross-functionally on fair evaluation practices, and champion Brex's employer brand within the design community through events, portfolio reviews, and social platforms.
The role requires deep experience owning recruiting strategy across broader organizations (not just individual searches), with demonstrated ability to gain stakeholder buy-in at leadership levels. You need proven expertise handling offer and negotiation processes up to executive-level candidates, with command of compensation models, equity, and total comp. Background recruiting for design roles with fluency evaluating design portfolios is essential.
