Salary: USD 300,000 - 500,000 / annual

The Principal, Business Management - Debt is a senior deal leader reporting to the Head of Debt within the Capital Solutions team. This role leads a portfolio of debt mandates across Crux's three debt motions: debt origination, debt advisory, and debt attached to tax equity and preferred equity structures. The Principal serves as the primary negotiator and senior execution lead from initial opportunity identification through close, managing the full range of debt products including construction facilities, term loans, back-leverage facilities, tax equity and credit bridge loans, equipment financing, green bonds, and securitization. Key responsibilities include: leading deal teams and mentoring junior staff on credit analysis and execution; authoring credit memos and pricing recommendations for Credit Committee review; driving lender diligence, structuring, negotiation, and documentation to institutional standards; owning transaction velocity and close rates against P&L targets; partnering with Industry Coverage to qualify opportunities and provide market feedback; collaborating with Investments on tax equity/preferred equity attach strategies; leading product workstreams such as new lender programs and documentation standards; building repeatable execution processes and driving adoption of AI-enabled modeling and automation; and representing Crux in industry forums, webinars, and conferences. The role requires a passion for the clean energy transition, a builder's mindset, and comfort operating with high autonomy in a fast-scaling environment. You will work collaboratively across teams—including Strategic Bank Capital, Strategic Institutional Capital, Product, and Engineering—to drive meaningful impact and increase deal throughput. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field; MBA, JD, or advanced degree preferred - 8–10+ years of total experience, including 7+ years in renewable energy project finance, infrastructure debt, or structured lending - Track record of leading construction, term, back-leverage, or debt capital markets transactions as primary negotiator - Deep expertise in project finance debt structures for solar, wind, and storage, including hands-on negotiation of credit agreements, intercreditor arrangements, and tax equity/debt interplay - Experience preparing and presenting transactions to credit or investment committees, ideally from both lender and sponsor/advisory perspectives - Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring deal teams, including reviewing junior underwriting and modeling work - Exceptional negotiation and relationship skills with developers, lenders, and investors; credibility to lead senior-level conversations - Strong judgment and comfort operating with high autonomy in fast-scaling environment - Strong interest in leveraging technology and AI to improve debt execution - FINRA SIE, Series 79, and Series 63 required, or willingness to obtain under Crux's broker-dealer sponsorship
