Alumni Ventures is seeking a Principal to join the Blue Team, a venture investment group focused on sourcing, evaluating, and executing investments across multiple funds including Blue Ivy Ventures (Yale community), Nassau Street Ventures (Princeton community), and the HealthTech Fund. This is a generalist investing role with primary focus on Seed and Series A companies, with flexibility across Pre-Seed and Growth-stage opportunities. In this role, you will lead deal sourcing by proactively identifying high-quality investment opportunities, building relationships with founders, venture investors, accelerators, and ecosystem partners, and maintaining a strong pipeline of prospective investments. You'll conduct thorough due diligence, engaging directly with founders, customers, and industry experts to evaluate teams, business models, market opportunities, and competitive landscapes. You'll develop investment memos and present recommendations through the Investment Committee process. You'll contribute to successful investment execution from initial evaluation through closing, work closely with the Managing Partner and investment team to build a balanced portfolio, and maintain alignment with investment strategy and targets. Network development is critical—you'll grow and leverage relationships with founders, venture investors, and operators to access differentiated deal flow and represent Alumni Ventures within the startup ecosystem. Alumni Ventures is one of the world's most active venture capital platforms with $1.4B+ in assets raised and investments in 1,600+ companies. The firm operates a 5-day-a-week in-office culture across offices in Boston, New York, Chicago, Menlo Park, Manchester NH, London, and Tokyo. This role may be based in Boston, New York, or Menlo Park. The position requires creativity, sound investment judgment, relationship-building skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across a fast-paced, professional, and entrepreneurial environment.
