Modern Animal is reimagining veterinary care for pets, clients, and the veterinary professionals who deliver it. This Clinic Manager role is a people leadership and culture-building position at one of their Los Angeles clinics.
You will lead, coach, and develop a diverse team delivering exceptional veterinary care with empathy and excellence. As the onsite leader, you'll ensure your clinic operates with both operational soundness and emotional health. Key responsibilities include:
• Coaching, mentoring, and developing team members who care deeply about animal welfare
• Collaborating on hiring and onboarding with attention to both skill and cultural fit
• Owning and optimizing schedules to ensure workflow, productivity, and team sustainability
• Managing performance, delivering meaningful feedback, and championing professional growth
• Contributing to business health by upholding operational excellence and financial sustainability as foundations for high-quality care
• Modeling and maintaining a culture of kindness, curiosity, accountability, and humor
• Advocating for your clinic and amplifying the team's voice in company-wide conversations
• Jumping in operationally where needed—on the floor, in client conversations, or in strategy meetings
Modern Animal offers a 24/7 virtual care team to support patients and reduce floor pressure, cross-functional collaboration with medical, operations, recruiting, and support teams, and a culture focused on building better days for everyone involved.
The role requires regular evening and weekend availability to support a team working when pets need care most. You'll also handle some local travel for training and cross-functional meetings. The position involves managing direct reports and working closely with shift leads, often supporting clients experiencing emotional distress or frustration, and handling uncooperative patients.
Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage with multiple plan options; 401(k) with company match; paid vacation and sick time; paid parental leave; free Modern Animal membership for your pets and service discounts; and access to mental health and well-being support via Spring Health.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 5+ years of people leadership experience (veterinary background preferred but not required)
• Ability to see both forest and trees—zoom into details while maintaining big-picture perspective
• Leadership style grounded in humility and openness; view feedback as a tool for building trust and driving growth
• Skill in creating psychological safety, setting clear expectations, and holding people accountable with warmth
• Excitement about trying new things, making mistakes, and helping build something that doesn't yet exist
