Shield AI, a venture-backed defense-tech company, is seeking a Power System Lead to define and execute the vision of the Launch and Recovery Vehicle power system from concept to production. This role encompasses power generation, regulation, distribution, power quality, and control systems.
You will design, develop, and integrate state-of-the-art high-power systems optimized for performance and reliability in harsh environments. Key responsibilities include guiding teammates toward custom power electronic designs, enabling uninterruptible power systems, conducting make-vs-buy trade studies, selecting and testing modules for aircraft integration, and ensuring system performance through rigorous verification. You will debug complex electrical, environmental, and manufacturing-related problems.
This is a leadership position where you will build and lead multiple engineers dedicated to power system design, drive cross-functional teams to execute top-level architecture, and provide mentorship and design review guidance. You'll work in a fast-paced environment supporting Shield AI's mission to protect service members and civilians with intelligent systems.
Shield AI's portfolio includes Hivemind autonomy software, V-BAT and X-BAT aircraft, and Aechelon simulation technologies, with operations across the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Power system design experience on a large vehicle, aircraft, or equivalent power system (rocket, satellite, submarine, etc.)
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated track record of delivering power system and power electronic products to market
- Proficiency with electrical engineering development tools, simulation, and test equipment
- Strong technical fundamentals and analysis capabilities
