Kraken, one of the world's longest-standing crypto platforms with over 10 million users, is seeking a Platform Accounting Analyst to join its Finance team. The Platform Accounting team manages financial accounting and reporting across Kraken's diverse trading products including spot trading, margin, futures, options, staking, and OTC services.
In this role, you will be central to month-end close and financial reporting processes. Your responsibilities include:
- Daily reconciliation of fiat and digital asset positions across banks and crypto wallets using internal systems and Kraken's proprietary exchange platform
- Preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations for accurate, timely financial reporting
- Research and resolution of discrepancies with cross-functional communication to stakeholders
- Support for financial reporting and regulatory audit requests
- Ensuring accounting compliance across consolidated and standalone financials in various regulatory environments globally
- Independent management and development of reconciliation processes to improve efficiency and transparency
- Maintenance and review of daily, monthly, and yearly reconciliations
- Documentation of processes and procedures to maintain proper controls
- Ad hoc support as needed
You will work closely with finance and accounting leaders and business partners on projects spanning digital asset reconciliations for corporate and custodial crypto, fiat reconciliations, spot trading, margin, futures, custodial staking, the EARN product suite, realized and unrealized gain/loss accounting, and new product launches. There are opportunities to work on automation projects that improve close processes and financial statement quality.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, 2+ years of accounting or audit experience from Big 4 or national accounting firms, knowledge of US GAAP and SOX experience, strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups), and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Nice-to-have qualifications include CPA certification, experience in crypto/fintech/financial services/banking, cryptocurrency knowledge, SQL experience, high-volume transaction experience, and NetSuite familiarity. This is a remote role requiring work within US timezones (Pacific to Eastern).
