Faire is a technology wholesale platform connecting independent retailers globally with suppliers and products. The company uses machine learning and data to power discovery across a multi-hundred-billion-dollar fragmented wholesale market.
You will own Faire's Personalization product area end-to-end, which encompasses the recommendation systems and ranking models that determine what retailers see across the home page, brand catalogs, and other surfaces. This is a high-leverage area directly impacting retailer experience and business outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the Personalization roadmap and strategy end-to-end, covering recommendation and ranking systems across all retailer-facing surfaces
- Building deep understanding of retailer needs, discovery behaviors, and marketplace dynamics through qualitative and quantitative research to surface high-impact opportunities
- Partnering directly with ML engineers on model and system tradeoffs and improvements
- Co-creating roadmaps with data science, engineering, and other product partners to sequence algorithmic and engineering work for customer and business impact
- Prioritizing across collaboration and impact opportunities from other teams
- Owning ambitious goals with visibility at senior leadership levels
- Building credibility as an expert on Faire's business and how algorithms impact customers and the business
- Serving as a go-to product leader for ambiguous, high-stakes problems in the discovery algorithms space
- Raising the bar on how product and data science teams collaborate, especially as AI reshapes that partnership
- Building the case for how Personalization's scope should split, then hiring and onboarding a second PM to share ownership
The role starts with full ownership and grows into a product lead position once you've built context and made the case for splitting scope.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of product management experience, including senior individual contributor or Staff-level ownership of a technical product area
- Direct experience shipping recommendation, ranking, or personalization systems
- Strong business judgment with a track record of making tough prioritization calls across multiple stakeholder teams to deliver on ambitious goals
- Experience splitting execution responsibility with partner teams on shared goals, including defining ownership and aligning roadmaps
- Prior people-management experience is a plus but not required
