Radiant is building the world's first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors. The Kaleidos reactor is a 1-megawatt, fail-safe unit designed for rapid deployment to hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases, replacing diesel generators and providing critical power infrastructure. The company is on track to test its first reactor at Idaho National Laboratory in summer 2026, with customer deliveries beginning in 2028.
As Permitting Manager, you will own the end-to-end state and local permitting process for reactor transportation and deployment. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role translating policy and licensing groundwork into permits in hand. You will prepare and file permit applications, manage relationships with contractors and consultants, and coordinate tightly with regulatory affairs, engineering, legal, operations, and community engagement teams.
Key responsibilities include: managing the complete permitting lifecycle from application through approval; interfacing with Radiant's regulatory, engineering, legal, and operations teams to ensure applications reflect accurate technical and site-specific information; working directly with customer permitting teams; supporting state and federal policy teams with on-the-ground information; tracking permit status and requirements across active and prospective deployment sites; building repeatable permitting processes and playbooks to reduce time-to-permit as Radiant scales; maintaining working knowledge of local and state permitting requirements (transportation, siting, zoning, environmental, construction); and supporting site selection efforts with permitting feasibility input.
Required: 5+ years managing permitting processes for industrial, energy, infrastructure, or highly regulated facility projects; proven experience managing contractors/consultants through permitting or entitlement processes; strong understanding of local and state permitting environments; comfort operating in ambiguity and defining requirements independently; clear communication skills across customers, contractors, consultants, and internal teams.
Desired: experience with energy generation asset permitting (nuclear or other power); military installation permitting; oversize load transportation; regulatory/licensing processes (NRC, state PUC); first-of-a-kind infrastructure deployments.
Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends; 100% onsite at El Segundo or Washington, D.C.
