Extend is a B2B SaaS platform revolutionizing the post-purchase experience for retailers through AI-driven solutions for customer service, returns management, fulfillment, and fraud detection. The company works with over 1,000 merchant partners and is backed by prominent technology investors with headquarters in San Francisco.
The People Transformation Specialist will join Extend's People team to drive operational excellence and strategic impact. This is a hands-on, high-impact role focused on identifying friction points across People processes and rebuilding them to be simpler, faster, and more consistent. The role combines process optimization with data analytics and AI adoption.
Key responsibilities include:
**AI & Process Optimization**: Audit core People processes (onboarding, performance management, compensation, offboarding) end-to-end to identify gaps and friction. Evaluate and pilot AI tools to improve People team workflows, balancing speed of adoption with data privacy and quality. Roll out solutions at scale and partner with PeopleOps and functional leaders on adoption. Help drive Extend's company-wide AI strategy and train team members in effective AI tool usage.
**People Analytics & Insights**: Own accuracy and reporting of core People metrics (headcount, attrition, hiring, engagement) while maintaining data integrity across HRIS and other systems. Build dashboards and leadership-ready reports providing real-time visibility into workforce trends. Support workforce planning and headcount forecasting. Design and administer employee surveys, conduct ad hoc analyses (attrition drivers, hiring funnel efficiency, org structure), and develop compensation/promotion/calibration analyses to support pay equity and talent decisions. Ensure compliance with privacy regulations and internal data governance standards.
**Team Contribution**: As a startup, the role involves jumping into varied projects as needed with opportunities to learn across all People functions. The team values ownership and impact over titles.
The ideal candidate has 4+ years of relevant experience in HR transformation, people analytics, or related operational/analytical roles, ideally within high-growth technology or consulting companies. Hands-on experience optimizing operational processes and using AI tools is essential. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys building, solving ambiguous problems, and turning process gaps and messy data into clear, actionable improvements.
