Render is seeking a People Partner to join its People team as a strategic advisor to Engineering, Product, and Design (EPD) leaders. The role combines hands-on HR business partnership with program design to help managers navigate growth, build high-performing teams, and scale people practices as the company expands.
Key responsibilities include partnering directly with EPD managers and leaders as a trusted advisor on organizational health, team dynamics, and performance management. You'll diagnose organizational patterns using survey data and 1:1 insights, translating findings into concrete action plans. The role involves designing and running people programs end-to-end—such as manager enablement, onboarding, and engagement-survey action planning—while driving stakeholder alignment and behavioral change.
You'll coach managers and executives through growth, reorganizations, and performance conversations, providing direct feedback and pushing back when necessary. The position emphasizes leveraging AI as a core productivity tool to automate scheduling, streamline communications, and enhance research workflows rather than defaulting to manual processes.
The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of HRBP/People Partner experience supporting engineering or product leaders, with demonstrated credibility with senior engineering or product leadership. You should have a proven track record designing and running people programs from scratch, including stakeholder management and measuring real impact. Strong critical-thinking skills are essential—the ability to distinguish symptoms from root causes, pattern-match across teams, and prioritize high-leverage actions.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) are required, along with comfort coaching leaders on messaging, timing, and change management. You should demonstrate strong ownership orientation, holding yourself accountable for outcomes while seeking and applying feedback quickly. The role requires comfort navigating difficult partnerships, giving direct feedback, and challenging the status quo rather than optimizing for harmony.
Nice-to-haves include experience scaling through 3x+ growth, designing manager enablement programs, running engagement survey initiatives, and operating in both early-stage and scaled organizations. The role is based in the SF office with approximately 3 days per week hybrid arrangement.
