Northwood Space is a modern space infrastructure company building a global network of phased array ground stations to enable real-time, reliable communication for satellite missions in national security, global connectivity, and disaster response. The company designs, builds, and rapidly deploys scalable systems with a vertically integrated approach.
As a People Operations Specialist, you will be the primary point of contact for employees across the company, ensuring smooth and accurate execution of the employee lifecycle from onboarding through offboarding. You'll partner closely with the broader People team to maintain system and process integrity as the organization scales while delivering responsive, high-quality support to employees.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serving as the primary point of contact for employee questions, triaging and resolving issues directly or escalating complex cases appropriately
- Supporting the People team in preparing and processing documentation for onboarding, offboarding, and other lifecycle events
- Owning the accuracy and integrity of employee data in Rippling, including job changes, background checks, and lifecycle updates
- Supporting compliance-related processes, documentation, and audits across the employee lifecycle
- Identifying trends and gaps in employee experience to inform process improvements, policy updates, and communications
You'll need 2+ years of experience in People Operations, Employee Experience, or a similar shared service role in a fast-paced organization. You should be a self-starter with strong judgment, knowing when to independently own outcomes and when to escalate. Strong analytical skills and experience using data to drive program improvements are essential.
Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; hands-on experience with Rippling or another HRIS; and working knowledge of employment law and compliance requirements across multiple states, particularly California and Washington, D.C.
