carwow is one of Europe's largest online car-buying and selling platforms, combining technology, media, and automotive expertise. The company grew over 50% last year with nearly £3bn in car transactions and acquired Autovia (AutoExpress and Evo magazines) in 2024, creating a media powerhouse with a 10m-subscriber YouTube channel and 350m+ annual web reach. As People Operations Specialist, you'll be the operational backbone of the UK people function, owning end-to-end payroll processing, employee support, benefits administration, and employee lifecycle management. You'll be the trusted first point of contact for employees on pay, benefits, and HR matters, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a smooth experience from onboarding through offboarding. Key responsibilities include: processing monthly UK payroll accurately and on time (gathering inputs, submission, reconciliation); ensuring PAYE, NI, pensions auto-enrolment, and statutory pay compliance; maintaining meticulous payroll records and supporting year-end processes (P60s, P11Ds); responding to employee queries on payroll, benefits, and policies with clarity and discretion; administering benefits programs (enrolments, changes, provider liaison); delivering smooth employee lifecycle experiences; maintaining clean, audit-ready people data in Hibob; producing reliable reports and insights; and proactively identifying process improvements using AI and automation. You'll need 3–4 years in People Operations, HR administration, or payroll roles, ideally in a fast-paced scale-up. Essential skills: hands-on UK payroll processing experience, exceptional attention to detail, comfort with high-volume administrative work, strong organizational ability, solution-oriented mindset, proficiency with AI tools, warm communication style, and confidence with HRIS systems and spreadsheets. Bonus experience includes benefits administration, Hibob/Bob payroll, multi-country operations, and relevant certifications (CIPD, payroll). The role offers hybrid working (2 days WFH), competitive salary, matched pension, share options, Bupa private medical/dental insurance, and eyecare vouchers. There's clear room to grow from owning day-to-day processes toward running complex ones and driving team-wide improvements.
