Expel is seeking a People Operations Generalist to own the operational backbone of the employee experience. This is a senior individual-contributor role focused on building scalable, automated systems rather than executing repetitive manual processes. You will own the full employee lifecycle from onboarding through offboarding, including benefits administration, leave management, HRIS configuration, and US compliance reporting. Key responsibilities include: running onboarding and offboarding workflows; administering medical, dental, vision, FSA, and COBRA benefits; managing parental leave, FMLA, and disability programs; configuring and maintaining the HRIS system; handling compliance reporting (ACA, EEO-1, Medicare Part D, PCORI, SOC 2 audit support); and automating manual processes to enable self-service for employees and managers. The role emphasizes strategic automation and process improvement. You'll treat repetitive work as a bug to be fixed, building self-service tools and templates so employees get answers without opening tickets and managers can handle routine people work independently. You'll be the trusted face of benefits and sensitive employee situations while also driving system improvements. Required experience: 4–7 years in people operations at a senior IC level; direct HRIS administration (Workday, Rippling, or similar); benefits administration across multiple programs; leave administration (FMLA, disability, parental leave); US compliance reporting familiarity; HR ticketing and workflow tools (Zendesk or similar) with a track record of process automation; proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office 365. Expel offers real ownership of the People Operations function, mandate and tooling for automation, strategic partnership with Employee Experience/Finance/IT, unlimited PTO, up to 24 weeks parental leave, and growth opportunity as the company scales.
