Remote is a global employment platform that helps organizations recruit, pay, and manage international teams compliantly. This Payroll Specialist Lead role is part of the Global Payroll Operations Team, based in India but fully remote.
You will act as a subject matter expert for payroll operations, managing end-to-end payroll processing including statutory filing, compliance, exceptions, approvals, and payments. Key responsibilities include processing full payroll cycles in-house, ensuring data integrity and quality, managing payroll journals and reconciliations, tracking KPIs and SLAs, and implementing process improvements. You will mentor and support payroll specialists on the team and provide backup support to regional managers during absences.
You will manage relationships with key stakeholders across Payroll Implementation, Finance, Product, and Engineering teams, working in a distributed, asynchronous environment across multiple continents.
Required qualifications include end-to-end payroll processing experience (in-house or at a payroll service provider), knowledge of payroll best practices, proficiency with Excel and Google Suite, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and fluent English. You should be comfortable in a fast-paced, international work environment with a passion for continuous improvement and process optimization. Remote work experience is a plus but not required.
