Salary: AUD 93,500 - 126,500 / annual
Clio, a global leader in legal AI technology, is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join its Payroll team in Sydney. This role focuses on managing Australian payroll operations end-to-end while coordinating global payroll cycles across APAC, EMEA, North America, and LATAM regions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Processing and preparing payroll for Australia-based employees with accuracy and timeliness, expanding to additional APAC countries as the business grows
- Managing payroll inputs and validations including variable pay, allowances, leave loading, absences, retroactive adjustments, and final settlements
- Handling statutory payroll reporting and remittances in compliance with Australian requirements (PAYG withholding, superannuation, year-end reporting)
- Coordinating with Employer of Record (EOR) partners across nine countries (Denmark, India, Philippines, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Bangladesh) for payroll cycle management and issue resolution
- Reconciling payroll and benefits data, supporting month-end activities and reporting
- Supporting employee lifecycle payroll administration including hires, changes, leaves, resignations, and terminations
- Maintaining payroll processes in Workday and supporting benefits administration
- Responding to payroll inquiries, maintaining documentation, and supporting audits
- Providing cross-training backup support for other regional payrolls
Required qualifications:
- 3+ years of payroll experience with hands-on Australian payroll processing
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation (PAYG, Superannuation Guarantee, state/territory payroll tax, Fair Work obligations)
- Experience managing payroll through third-party providers and EOR platforms
- Proficiency with payroll reconciliations, reporting, and controls
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills with discretion for confidential data
- English fluency
Bonus qualifications include Workday experience, familiarity with Remote or similar EOR platforms, exposure to multi-country payroll environments, relevant payroll certifications, audit and year-end experience, and background in high-growth SaaS environments.
