This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while partnering closely with People Ops, Finance, and Legal to support company growth. Key responsibilities include managing the complete payroll cycle for all U.S. employees across multiple states, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws (FLSA), and multi-state employment requirements. You will process garnishments, bonuses, commissions, and equity-related payroll events; reconcile payroll general ledger accounts; and partner with Accounting on month-end close, accruals, and payroll-related journal entries. You will maintain internal controls, support internal and external payroll audits, and identify process improvements and automation opportunities as headcount grows. The ideal candidate combines deep technical payroll expertise with a strong compliance mindset. You will respond to employee payroll inquiries with high service standards and confidentiality, stay current on evolving payroll compliance requirements including multi-state nexus and remote-work tax implications, and support ad hoc reporting and analysis for Finance, HR, and executive leadership. Preferred qualifications include relevant professional certification (CPP or FPC), experience in high-growth technology or SaaS companies, SOX compliance and payroll internal controls experience, and familiarity with international and contractor payroll.
