This Payroll Manager role reports directly to the Controller and is central to supporting the company's global expansion across multiple jurisdictions.
You will own payroll operations across US, Canada, UK, and additional Employer of Record entities. Key responsibilities include maintaining and validating payroll data across all regions, processing final paychecks, adjustments, and special pay. You'll manage employee expense reports in alignment with company policy, administer the Navan travel platform, and ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and global payroll laws. The role includes managing accrued PTO schedules, auditing payroll tax records, and leading annual audits for 401(k) and Workers Compensation.
You'll create and maintain process documentation, conduct account reconciliation, prepare payroll journal entries, and provide exceptional support to employee payroll inquiries. The position requires staying current on global tax regulations and providing standard and ad-hoc payroll reports to Finance and People teams with analysis of trends and variances. You'll administer payroll systems, ensure data integrity, and collaborate with HR and finance on employee data changes (new hires, terminations, promotions, salary changes). Additional duties include maintaining employee benefit allocations, professional development stipends, work-from-home programs, and monthly flux analysis for payroll expense accounts.
The ideal candidate holds a BS in Finance or Accounting, brings 6+ years of SaaS or startup payroll experience, and has proven expertise with Rippling (required). You should have hands-on experience with multi-subsidiary and global payroll, familiarity with HRIS systems and processors like Vistra and Remote, and strong Excel/Google Sheets skills.
