Maven is a marketplace for expert-led cohort-based courses, with 500+ live courses and $100M+ earned by instructors. The company is expanding into B2B corporate training (Maven for Business) to serve the $400B+ enterprise learning market. As founding Partnerships Lead, you will report directly to the CEO and own the end-to-end sales motion for Maven for Business. This is a player-coach role that will evolve into a management position as the team scales.
Key responsibilities:
- Creative sourcing: prioritize inbound leads and build outbound prospect lists; refine target customer profile based on market feedback
- Consultative sales: engage L&D and functional leaders to understand their AI fluency goals and position Maven as the solution
- Account management: oversee smooth onboarding, monitor engagement and outcomes, identify expansion opportunities
- Sales operations: build and maintain systems for pipeline management, qualification, outreach tracking, and deal progression
- Product insights: translate sales conversations into actionable product and packaging improvements
You'll work within a small B2B pod (CEO, ops lead, marketing lead, design lead, 2 engineers) in a 20-person company. Maven is fully remote with no-meeting Wednesdays, company demos on Fridays, and twice-yearly in-person offsites. The culture emphasizes high trust, high ownership, fast execution, and direct daily feedback.
Requirements:
- Proven sales track record: demonstrated ability to close both inbound and outbound deals, navigate multi-stakeholder buying committees, and manage complex sales cycles
- Scrappy self-starter mentality: thrive in ambiguous, early-stage environments where processes are still being defined
- Exceptional communication: articulate ideas clearly and confidently in writing and verbally with prospects and internal teams
- Analytical rigor: investigate open-ended questions, generate insights, track progress, and improve owned systems
- Competitive drive: hustle and hunger to win, with desire to improve product and processes
- Bonus: prior success selling into corporate L&D departments
Note: Role may require occasional travel to partner sites and conferences.
