Airspace is a tech-enabled freight forwarder specializing in time-critical logistics for mission-critical packages—organs for transplant, aircraft parts, semiconductors, and other highly sensitive components. The company uses AI and machine learning to coordinate logistics across a global network of drivers and airlines, serving customers who demand speed, transparency, security, and accountability. As an Operations Specialist III in Aerospace & Defense, you will be the deepest problem-solver on your team. You resolve the hardest escalations that OS I and OS II cannot handle independently, balancing cost, speed, and customer impact without defaulting to escalation. You understand the business well enough to make close calls—which carrier to use, which cost structure to accept, which tradeoffs protect both service quality and margin. Key responsibilities include: **Resolve the Hardest Escalations**: Independently resolve all escalated issues using available resources with minimal assistance. Assist team members with their escalations and questions. Anticipate problems before they surface and act early. **Make Margin and Cost Tradeoffs**: Understand margin versus total cost for an order and apply that knowledge to additional charge approvals. Balance speed, cost, and customer impact when making big-picture decisions. Maintain deep knowledge of trade, regulatory, and compliance requirements relevant to aerospace and defense sectors. **Set the Standard for the Team**: Serve as the go-to resource on sector-specific process nuance and edge cases. Flag SOP gaps and suggest improvements to your supervisor based on frontline experience. Uphold team expectations by leading through example. Maintain any certifications required for your assigned sector and stay current on related compliance requirements. **Maintain Balanced Performance**: Maintain minimal to no errors or service failures, make sound decisions under pressure, and meet customer service standards appropriate for this level. You must be able to perform all responsibilities included in the Operations Specialist II job description in addition to the above. This is a senior individual contributor role that requires deep expertise, judgment, and the ability to mentor junior team members through example and guidance.
