Fuse is building fusion energy technology with a mission to accelerate the world's transition to clean energy. The Albuquerque site is a critical radiation effects testing facility supporting this mission.
As Operations Lead, you will own end-to-end site operations including people, scheduling, facility management, safety, and coordination between technical and operational teams. This is not a traditional facilities role—you'll be an entrepreneurial operator responsible for identifying gaps, building systems, and scaling the site from the ground up.
Key responsibilities include:
- Day-to-day operations and performance management of the Albuquerque testing site
- Building operating cadence, processes, and team structure to support growth
- Coordinating shot campaign scheduling across technical and business teams
- Managing site staffing, budget, vendors, contractors, maintenance, and facility needs
- Serving as primary point of contact for customers, site visits, audits, inspections, and government stakeholders
- Supporting federal contract execution and DoD/DOE customer activity
- Proactively identifying and resolving risks across safety, schedule, budget, and staffing
- Building practical operating systems (maintenance, safety, shift handoffs, visitor management) that scale without unnecessary bureaucracy
You'll need 5+ years building or running operations in fast-moving startups, hardware, manufacturing, or industrial environments. Demonstrated success taking underbuilt operations and creating the people, processes, and systems to make them work is essential. You should be entrepreneurial, resourceful, hands-on, comfortable with ambiguity, and willing to solve problems outside a narrowly defined scope. Experience hiring, developing, and holding teams accountable is required. Preferred experience includes scaling new sites or business units, high-accountability environments (aerospace, defense, energy, advanced manufacturing), and supporting government customers.
This role requires full-time relocation to Albuquerque, NM. Extended hours and weekends are expected when needed. Some business travel to other Fuse facilities may occur. The role may require obtaining and maintaining a U.S. government security clearance. ITAR compliance requires U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency.
