Salary: USD 100,000 - 165,000 / annual
SpaceX is seeking an Operations Engineer for the Starlink satellite supply chain team in Redmond, WA. In this role, you will drive improvement projects for materials management and satellite supply chain operations, ensuring safety, reliability, and process capability goals are achieved and continuously improved. You will serve as a vital bridge between development, supply chain, and production teams, designing and developing new processes and infrastructure to support the world's most advanced satellite constellation.
Key responsibilities include identifying and executing capital equipment, machinery, building, and infrastructure upgrades related to materials management; managing material flow projects to tight timelines while influencing stakeholders; driving improvements in inventory accuracy, on-time delivery, reliability, and waste reduction; identifying challenges in satellite material flow and logistics, determining root causes, and developing solutions; developing and standardizing key process indicators and operations metrics; analyzing data to understand current activities and build business cases for improvements; and training inventory, receiving, and logistics teams on best-in-class operations practices through workshops and process improvement demonstrations.
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and 1+ years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, or inventory management (including academic projects or internships). Preferred experience includes a master's degree in engineering or supply chain; proficiency with CAD, SQL, business intelligence tools (Power BI, Grafana), analysis tools (Python/R, Minitab, Excel), or discrete event modeling; background as an industrial, operations, quality, process, or manufacturing engineer; expertise in statistics, data analysis, cost/benefit analysis, and visualization; experience with inventory, production, and capacity planning (MRP/ERP systems); knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma principles; data analytics skills; and strong communication and presentation abilities. The position requires onsite presence in Redmond and willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required due to ITAR export control regulations.
