Xona Space Systems is seeking a Spacecraft Operations Operator to own and lead day-to-day operations for a growing satellite constellation. The role is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient mission execution across all phases of flight—from early on-orbit checkout through routine operations and anomaly resolution. Key responsibilities include performing real-time mission operations including commanding, monitoring, and contingency response for Xona's constellation. You will coordinate shifts with other operators across different locations and time zones to efficiently organize and distribute tasks. A critical part of the role involves developing a deep understanding of the full ground and satellite technology stack to understand system behavior in both nominal and anomalous conditions. You will provide frequent updates on satellite status to key stakeholders and raise issues in a timely manner. The role requires on-call availability during anomalies or special spacecraft operations. You will also assist with automating repetitive tasks by leveraging domain knowledge and potentially contributing to scripting efforts. Required qualifications include previous hands-on experience with direct console control of satellites, aircraft, drones, or similar systems. Strong understanding of TT&C (telemetry, tracking, and command) communications systems and ground station partnerships is essential. You must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong documentation practices for tracking critical events and actions, and some scripting knowledge (Python, Bash, or similar). Extended availability outside normal working hours is required during anomalous situations or special spacecraft operations circumstances. Candidates must be prepared to obtain and hold a security clearance at the reliability status level and pass security assessments for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR compliance.
