Wordsmith is a legal operations platform for in-house legal teams, backed by $100M in funding from Index Ventures, General Catalyst, and Highland Europe. The company serves 500+ customers including Financial Times, Canva, and Sage, and is building AI-powered solutions to help legal teams work faster and reduce external counsel spend. This is a founding motion design role with real ownership from day one. You will own video and motion across the company, creating launch videos, feature announcements, social assets, and product storytelling that transforms complex workflows into clear, compelling narratives. You'll work closely with Design, Growth, Product Marketing, and Founders to bring ideas to life quickly and at high standards. Key responsibilities include: - Create launch videos, feature announcements, and product animations - Turn abstract workflows into clear visual stories that land quickly - Build a motion system of templates, transitions, components, and export standards - Produce social content, event openers, conference loops, and sales enablement assets - Partner with writers, designers, and producers from concept to final delivery - Help define how motion supports brand, growth, and product storytelling - Use AI tools to improve quality, speed, and creative range Wordsmith operates as an in-office team in London (with Edinburgh also mentioned as a potential hub), believing that working together helps the team move faster, collaborate closely, and produce better work. REQUIREMENTS: - 3+ years of motion design experience, ideally in-house at a product or technology company - Strong reel of shipped work you can discuss clearly - Excellent taste and high standards for craft - Strong narrative instincts — ability to simplify dense ideas visually - Ownership mindset — comfortable building a function, not just executing briefs - High initiative — spot gaps and move before being asked - AI-first mentality — actively use modern tools to increase quality and output - Advanced skills in After Effects and Figma - Comfortable in Premiere for editing BONUS SKILLS: - Rive, Lottie, GSAP, or web motion - 3D tools such as Cinema 4D or Blender - AI video tools - Experience building reusable motion systems or libraries
