Scopely, a leading mobile games publisher, is seeking a Motion Designer Lead to join Flamed, its in-house creative agency, in the Barcelona office on a hybrid basis. You will lead a team of motion design artists supporting the Scopely Explore portfolio, which includes major titles like Pokémon GO, Monster Hunter Now, and Pikmin Bloom, with potential support for other IPs across Scopely's extensive game portfolio.
In this role, you will oversee motion design projects from concept through final delivery, collaborating cross-functionally with creative directors, producers, and both internal and external artists. You'll provide artistic and technical direction on motion design, animation, and compositing, ensuring quality, consistency, and brand alignment. Key responsibilities include reviewing and guiding vendor work, mentoring internal artists to support their creative and technical growth, and contributing to visual development, style frames, and storyboards that set the artistic tone for each project.
You bring 7+ years of experience in motion design, animation, or related fields, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role. You have an excellent video reel demonstrating expert-level motion design and animation capabilities. You are proficient in industry-standard tools including After Effects, Cinema 4D, Octane Render Engine, and Photoshop. You possess excellent art direction, storytelling sensibilities, and visual taste, combined with solid understanding of team coordination in creative environments. Strong English communication skills and a collaborative mindset are essential.
Bonus qualifications include hands-on experience with Unreal Engine for cinematic-quality renders, knowledge of Unity, strong understanding of social media and performance marketing creatives, and proactive interest in AI-assisted design tools. Passion for the Scopely Explore games is a plus. You must submit your CV and showreel with your application.
