Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Battery Engineer to drive the development of energy storage systems (ESSs) powering next-generation drone products, from concept through full-rate production. You will serve as the primary technical owner of ESS delivery, working on accelerated timelines and acting as the main interface between the Core Battery Group and internal product teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own end-to-end battery pack development from concept to production, taking full ownership of performance requirements, cost targets, reliability resolution, and design-for-manufacturing support
- Act as the core interface between the battery engineering group and Anduril product teams, maintaining collaborative relationships throughout the program lifecycle
- Collaborate with program teams to translate operational concepts into actionable ESS requirements
- Lead battery cell selection using accelerated de-risking and validation processes
- Partner with mechanical engineers to deliver design iterations across component testing, prototype packs, and production units
- Work with manufacturing engineering to scale from prototype to production, ensuring validation through tools like DFMEAs
- Directly support battery bring-up, testing, debugging, and vehicle integration activities
- Conduct root cause analysis on fielded systems to drive design improvements
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent physical sciences) plus 3+ years designing and troubleshooting energy storage systems. You must have demonstrated ownership of battery pack design and prototype assembly, with experience delivering systems from prototype to production. Professional awareness of battery management system (BMS) design, algorithms, or validation is required, along with knowledge of battery cell characterization or modeling in Matlab/Simulink. Basic CAD proficiency (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks) and understanding of battery safety standards (UN38.3, NAVSEA S9310, UL, IEC) are essential. U.S. Person status required for export-controlled access.
Preferred qualifications include a graduate degree in relevant engineering disciplines, familiarity with military standards (MIL-STD-882, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464), advanced CAD experience, drone/UAV deployment experience, and involvement in competitive engineering projects (Formula SAE, Hyperloop, racing, startups).
