Salary: USD 252,000 - 333,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is seeking a Mission Software Lead to own the entire onboard software ecosystem of the ALTIUS-600 tactical reconnaissance and strike platform. This role leads a high-performing engineering team responsible for mission autonomy, core infrastructure, tactical Command and Control (C2), and flight software (VMS) for small unmanned aerial vehicles (Group 1–3).
You will architect and deliver complex systems that integrate hardware and software components, ensuring alignment with system requirements and performance metrics. Your technical leadership spans deterministic vehicle controls, edge-compute infrastructure, and high-level autonomous decision-making. You will ensure ALTIUS reliably executes complex multi-agent behaviors, communicates efficiently across tactical datalinks, and maintains strict vehicle safety and mission readiness.
Key responsibilities include leading initiatives and driving outcomes by translating functional plans into actionable processes; architecting complex systems that integrate hardware and software; problem-solving on undefined challenges requiring conceptual thinking; collaborating with cross-functional partners (Guidance/Navigation/Controls, Avionics, Systems, Hardware) and external stakeholders; and attracting, retaining, and developing top talent in software and robotics engineering.
You will apply broad understanding of organizational priorities, workforce planning, and financial goals to lead teams toward defined objectives. Decisions at this level influence timelines, budgets, and critical business outcomes for Group 1-3 UAV programs. The role requires balancing hands-on technical contribution with people leadership and strategic planning.
Required: 7+ years on high-performing software teams; 3+ years direct management of 5+ people; demonstrated ability to drive technical teams; significant hands-on work on interdisciplinary projects (robotics, autonomous vehicles, avionics, aerospace); strong embedded systems fundamentals (resource-efficient design, drivers, real-time software, Linux/RTOS); experience building and executing technical roadmaps; proficiency in C++ and Linux.
