Daymark Health is a value-based oncology company transforming cancer care through a comprehensive platform combining dedicated care navigation, symptom-focused support, behavioral health, and social resources with evidence-based interventions and hybrid in-person/virtual care delivery.
As Medical Director for the Michigan market, you will serve as the senior clinical leader responsible for setting clinical vision and standards of care for cancer patients in the region. You will operate in a dyad leadership model with the Market Operations Leader, combining clinical expertise with operational excellence. This role reports directly to the CEO.
Key responsibilities include:
**Market Leadership**: Launch Daymark's Michigan market alongside the VP of Market Operations and COO. Establish and hold the team accountable to market-level KPIs spanning clinical outcomes, quality, enrollment, and patient experience. While the Market Operations Leader owns the P&L, you share accountability for how the clinical model drives financial performance, including total-cost-of-care savings and reductions in avoidable acute-care utilization. Collaborate on hiring, team management, and day-to-day operational leadership to develop a high-performing, clinically excellent, and operationally sustainable team.
**Clinical Leadership**: Uphold care model and quality standards by championing a culture of excellence, continuous learning, and evidence-based practice. Serve as the collaborating physician of record for Nurse Practitioners per Michigan requirements and provide clinical oversight for other clinical staff. Directly manage one to two market-based physicians. Clinical activities account for up to 20% of effort, including direct supportive oncology patient care, second opinions, clinical trial advisory, documentation integrity, and remote on-call coverage. Partner with national leadership to refine the care model and contribute expertise to new programs and workflows as the company scales.
**Partnerships**: Serve as Daymark's senior clinical representative to oncology practices, PCPs, health systems, and health plan partners in Michigan. Build trust and clinical credibility. Represent Daymark in clinical case conferences and joint operating meetings.
Required qualifications: Board-certified MD or DO in medical, radiation, or surgical oncology (or closely related specialty) with active, unrestricted Michigan medical license. Minimum 5 years practicing oncology with direct patient care and experience leading/supervising clinical teams. Familiarity with palliative care and interest in board certification. Experience with or strong interest in value-based, virtual, and at-home cancer care models. Familiarity with oncology value-based payment models (OCM, EOM). Ability to partner effectively with operational counterparts, sharing accountability while respecting distinct clinical and operational perspectives. Data-driven approach to monitoring outcomes and driving continuous improvement.
